Renegades’ Innings
Melbourne Renegades had a disappointing start as Jack Edwards dismissed Tim Seifert for just 8 runs, leaving the hosts at 10/1 within two overs.
Mohammad Rizwan then partnered Josh Brown for a brief recovery, though most of the aggression came from Brown, who smashed 43 runs off just 19 balls, including 3 fours and 4 sixes. However, Hayden Kerr ended the 44-run stand, and Rizwan failed to gain momentum, getting out for 6 off 10 balls.
Jake Fraser-McGurk played a stabilizing role, scoring 38 runs off 29 balls with four boundaries before falling to Sean Abbott after the total crossed 100.
Late fireworks from Hasan Khan, who struck a quick 39, gave Renegades some hope, but his dismissal in the final over slowed the scoring. The Renegades finished at 164/9.
For the Sixers, Sean Abbott claimed three wickets, while Jack Edwards, Ben Dwarshuis, and Hayden Kerr picked up two each.
Sixers’ Chase
Sydney Sixers began confidently with Daniel Hughes and Babar Azam adding 46 runs for the first wicket.
Hughes scored 30 off 23 balls before being dismissed by Gurinder Sandhu, but Babar held one end firmly. Josh Philippe contributed 16, while skipper Moises Henriques played a brisk cameo of 23 runs, keeping the chase on track.
After the fourth wicket fell, Babar Azam and Joel Davies built an unbeaten 51-run partnership, steering the Sixers to victory in 19.1 overs.
