Pakistan Increases Monthly Allowance for Jammu & Kashmir Refugees

The Government of Pakistan has decided to increase the monthly subsistence allowance for refugees from Jammu and Kashmir to Rs 5,000 per person, providing much-needed financial relief.

Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs Amir Muqam said the decision reflects Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s continued solidarity with the Kashmiri people.

Housing Project Also Underway

Alongside the financial support, the government is working on a pilot housing project worth Rs 3 billion to construct 750 homes for refugee families. The project aims to ensure dignified rehabilitation and long-term settlement.

Authorities stated that land for the housing scheme has been provided by the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Focus on Rehabilitation

Officials emphasized that refugee welfare, rehabilitation, and respectful resettlement remain key priorities. The government reiterated its commitment to standing with the Kashmiri people.

Relief for Vulnerable Families

The increase in monthly allowance is expected to help families cope with rising living costs and meet basic needs such as food, education, and healthcare.
