The Pakistan Super League (PSL) has officially confirmed Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, as a new venue for PSL 11, expanding the tournament’s footprint to a fifth host city for the upcoming season.
The decision was finalized during a PSL Governing Council meeting held at the National Cricket Academy in Lahore, chaired by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi.

Faisalabad’s Role Linked to Expansion Plans
Faisalabad’s inclusion has added momentum to ongoing discussions around franchise planning, particularly regarding the new Sialkot-based PSL team.
Earlier reports suggested the franchise was considering a “home away from home” arrangement, with Iqbal Stadium potentially hosting some of its home fixtures. While no formal confirmation has been issued by the franchise, the idea has gained traction within cricket circles.

The possibility strengthened after franchise owner Hamza Majeed indicated that Faisalabad holds personal significance as a secondary base. The move also aligns with earlier remarks by PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, who had stated that Iqbal Stadium would host PSL matches, even before the new franchise auction was finalized.
Sialkot Still Plans Long-Term Home Venue
Despite Faisalabad’s readiness, Sialkot is expected to remain the long-term home for the new franchise. Jinnah Stadium, Sialkot, is reportedly slated for major infrastructure upgrades following the city’s entry into the PSL.
However, if renovation timelines extend, Iqbal Stadium provides an immediate, PSL-ready alternative with recent experience hosting international cricket.
Historic Venue Back in the Spotlight
Formerly known as Lyallpur Stadium, Iqbal Stadium is one of Pakistan’s most historic cricket grounds. It recently returned to the international calendar in November 2025, hosting a three-match ODI series against South Africa, which drew strong crowds and high energy, reinforcing its suitability for marquee events like the PSL.
