The educational future of thousands of students in Punjab has come under threat due to delays in the release of scholarship installments, prompting several universities to issue warnings over unpaid fees.

According to official data, around 85,000 students across 100 higher education institutions in Punjab are benefiting from the scholarship program. However, the delay in payments has left students anxious, with some universities reportedly refusing to issue result cards and fee invoices.

Invoices Not Submitted by Universities

Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) Chairman Dr. Iqrar Ahmed revealed that only 25 out of 100 institutions have submitted the required invoices so far.

He clarified that scholarships cannot be released until invoices are received, stressing that the delay is largely due to the failure of universities to complete the necessary documentation.

One-Week Deadline Issued

The PHEC has now given universities one week to submit pending invoices. Dr. Iqrar warned that scholarships will be cancelled if invoices are not received within the given deadline.

He also issued a strict warning to higher education institutions, urging them to act responsibly to avoid jeopardizing students’ academic progress.

Students and parents have expressed serious concern, calling on universities and authorities to resolve the issue urgently to prevent disruption to education.
